A very merry christmas and happy 2011

Well what a year it has been! Just to think that it was 1 year ago that we moved to sydney to pursue a new position within the college I work for, and 12 months later, I feel like Sydney is well and truly our new home, albeit for the rain. not cool.

Anyhows I have some time off over Christmas which is giving me lots of time to reflect on the year that has been as well as do some much loved cooking, something that I don’t seem to be doing much of anymore. Shame on me!

Next year you will be glad to know that I have grand plans for We Are Messengers with lots of ideas that I am dreaming up in my head. Perhaps over my christmas break I will get a chance to make a start on these… watch this space.

From the gang here at We Are Messengers we wish ALL of our friends, Facebook and Twitter followers and those who purchased our cards a very merry christmas and a happy new year! Don’t forget to remind yourselves what the true meaning of christmas is all about…

Shopping at Deus Ex Machina

Well it’s been a while since my last post…. life has been busy in Sydney :-)

We are enjoying life here so much, particularly because there is so much to see and do every day. One place that I like to visit is Deus Ex Machina – If you have never heard of this place then you need to get yourself acquainted! Now. From the outside it pretty much looks like motorbikes and man stuff, however the signage on the outside always intrigued me (mainly because it is very typographic = love) once I peered through the doorway to take a peek inside I discovered a new heaven.

If you’re into appreciating fine machinery, as well as finely made clothing, accessories and artworks then you too will share a love for Deus just like I do.

Sauerkraut Typeface

One of my colleagues at Shillington College is part of the People Collective – and they have recently launched a project for a beautiful typeface they have developed called Sauerkraut. If you are into typography and want to support independants like these guys then I urge you to jump on board and pledge some money to help fund their typeface production… and the best part is, by pledging some money you willl receive some lovely presents in return. Good luck guys!

Hello 2011

Well its Friday afternoon and the time is now looming for us all to get over the New Year celebrations, put our credit cards back in to our wallets and get away from the summer sales. As of Monday 10th January, most of us will be back at work once again and a whole new year to get excited about.

What’s in store for you?

We hope this year, we will be able to start revealing some new products both within our online store and at upcoming markets in 2011.

But for now, here’s some lovely type inspiration in the form of a silk screened posted. Via Effective Studio

Thankyou!

We just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who came to The Finders Keepers this weekend. It was so nice to see so many familiar faces and some new ones. We hope you enjoyed all of the products on display… a few of our faves included:

Herbert and Friends

Lola & Bailey

Penelope & Pip

It’s beginning to look alot like Christmas…

Well last weekend we ventured in to the shops, only to discover Christmas trees and decorations lining the shelves. Luckily for us, we’ve been busy working behind the scenes here at We Are Messengers to provide you with our new range of Christmas cards for 2010. You’ll be able to purchase these at the upcoming Finders Keepers in Brisbane on November 6th & 7th 2010.  We hope you are just as excited about them as we are.

Here’s a little sneak peek for you now:

Paul R& by Neuarmy

Love love this poster and the H&book all by Neuarmy.

Type it write

This is a must read for all graphic designers. ‘Type It Write’ A great little publication that demonstrates the proper use of grammar and punctuation. As designers we often forget this side of the job – I’m definitely going to make this a new addition to our office library.

Meet Tad

Well guys we have been very quiet on the blog for some weeks now. We are very sorry for the lack of posts, hopefully you will forgive us! We have been very busy and will be able to tell you all about our news soon.

One of my colleagues showed me the website of Tad Carpenter and I was so inspired by his work… Hopefully you are too!

Pencil + Paper

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! The weather was fantastic here in Brisbane, although today tells a different story.  Over the weekend I stumbled upon the work of Justin Fuller and I immediately fell in love with his style. Check it out Pencil Plus Paper.
